昨年末から衛星放送で「すごいよ!!マサルさん」の再放送があり、MX-TVでは「デジモンアドベンチャー」の再放送の話題もありました。そして、鳥山明さんの訃報報道で、リメイクの「ドクタースランプ」の思い出もよみがえりました。他にもAIkaなどありますが、そんな中、懐かしのRPGゲーム『グランディア HD コレクション』の中から、筆者の関係した「グランディアⅡ」の話題も最近再燃。時間の経過を忘れるほどに鮮明に思い出されます。
「グランディアⅡ」は、当時米国のゲーム専門サイトのRPGFanで『2000年のトップ10RPG』で1位に選ばれるなど、海外でも注目されました。未だにユーザーからの応援の声が届きますが、その人気の秘密は独特のストーリー性や冒険の楽しさ、キャラクターの表現などと沢山あり、それらが海外でも意外なほどに支持されたことでしょう。
私たち声優陣も、ユーザーとの一体感を大切にしました。裏方として、このRPG作品には珍しいほど力強い演技を込め当時は画期的でした。私が演じた「エレナ」は、キャラクターデザイナー「かのえゆうし」さんのイメージにぴったりと合った声を演じました。
「グランディアⅡ」は、さまざまな楽しみ方がありますが、いちばんのおすすめはユーザーとの一体感、私は今でもRPGの醍醐味を共有できる作品であると自信を持っています。
Voice Actors of “Grandia II” Speak – Memories of Nostalgia and Adventure
Recently, there has been a resurgence of discussion surrounding the nostalgic RPG game “Grandia II,” evoking vivid memories that make one forget the passage of time. Satellite broadcasts have featured reruns of “Gotta be the Strongest!! Masaru(“Tomoe KItahara) since the end of last year, while MX-TV has sparked conversations about reruns of “Digimon Adventure(Takeru).” With the news of Akira Toriyama’s passing, memories of the remake of “Dr. Slump(Akane Kimidori)“ have also resurfaced. Amidst these discussions, the topic of “Grandia II” has regained attention, reminding us of its enduring allure.
“Grandia II” garnered attention overseas, being selected as the number one RPG of 2000 by RPGFan, a prominent gaming site in the United States. Even now, the voices of support from users continue to reach us. The secret of its popularity likely lies in its unexpected level of acclaim abroad.
As voice actors, we cherished a sense of unity with the users. Working behind the scenes, we delivered performances that were unusually powerful for an RPG at the time, which was groundbreaking. The character I portrayed, “Elena,” had a voice that perfectly matched the image created by character designer Yuushi Kanoe.
“Grandia II” offers various avenues of enjoyment, but I still confidently believe it’s a work that allows for a shared experience of the essence of RPGs, fostering a sense of unity with the users that endures even now.
